Yes, I agree there is some culpability on the Western front. I just hate the self-loathing being practiced here in America. We are still a great people with a hell of a lot of good qualities to be admired. Not everything is our fault.

When Americans take aggressive steps against other countries both overtly and covertly, and then are shocked when there reprisals and refuse to take responsibility for their actions.......any criticism of such behavior is not an example of self loathing but healthy self criticism.

Which isn't the point -- the point is that we can fix our own problems much more easily than we can fix those of others, and the fact that others have flaws does not excuse our own.
