Novak is an enigma. He has testified to the Grand Jury, but for some reason he's above reproach. Some have said he may be a CIA asset, therefore untouchable. But it is strange. If you listen to him now he seems remorseful about something, what I'm not sure. Maybe he knows that what he did may help bring down the Bush White House.

The only explanation is that Novak spilled his guts. There is no crime to indict him for, so once he spilled his guts he is out of the picture.
