My instincts say otherwise... the boom is probably because of heat generation in the liquid nitrogen causing instantaneous outgassing! But then I do not know what becomes of the pack of joules in any segment of the conductor once it changes resistance? It may just go to heat and cause the problem? Then again we may be pushing the model too far?
