Sergio

If you are running at Cape Cod, you must be on your yearly vacation!! Yea!!!

Back in CA after a somewhat hectic return from NE. I'm beginning to dislike flying anywhere. While the airlines are losing their shirts due to higher fuel prices etc. their service is suffering big time. Not only did they lose my luggage, but the boarding rep. was rude and hositle when called on an error in the booking of a connecting flight that would have sent me from Pheonix to Las Vegas rather than San Jose CA...not that I would have minded terribly a visit to Vegas, but the bride was in the midist of driving 2.5 hours to San Jose to pick me up in San Jose. Maybe I should have just let the rep. deal with Lady Di...believe me the Lady part would have not been a good descriptive had she waited an extra 2 hours while I was in Vegas. LOL

Good to be home, including the 3 hours spent this morning getting my computer back online..seems something when bad during a load of a childern's educational CD...wiped out all my programs, data and most of Windows XP.

Ken

Sergio,

As you said,NVLS will host a meeting with analysts on Monday after the close of trading.

It moved up for 4 days on a roll this week and Morgan Stanley upgraded its view of the semiconductor-capital equipment sector to "in line" from "cautious," on Thursday. They said the sector is at the start of a "gradual, sustainable recovery".They raised the "target" on NVLS to $47.50 <g>

On the other hand, Prudential reiterated its "neutral" rating on the semiconductor capital-equipment industry and said that they expect companies to report orders at the "low end of guidance".<g> They said they are waiting to see how orders materialize in the 3rd Q especially waiting what IBM & Samsung are going to be ordering and they cited LRCX, ASML, KLAC and NVLS as the companies with better chance of performing in the 3rd Q. They said that NVLS & BRKS are "the two most likely to face the biggest cuts in EE".<g>

In spite of the good moves this week, NVLS is not completely out of its near term downtrend coming from the June Hs. It needs to close above 27.

I was long a few shares of AMAT, but sold last month when it failed to get back to 18. Now I will consider buying it back on a close above 17.45 with a close stop loss around 17.20 <g>.

NVLS had a good 1st Q with revenues up almost 30% and earnings double compared to 2004, but the EE for the Yr. are around $0.90 vs. $1.06 in 2004.AMAT also has similar pattern of EE. LRCX is the one showing more impressive gains on earnings in the last 4Qs and PE is around 14 vs. 22 for NVLS although I don't think that in its last Q (June)LRCX will have the same kind of % gains.<g>

In my "buying range", I got some ALSC last month after it formed a "base" around the 1.65 level and started moving up on June 9 in spite of the poor revenues and earnings results. But now that it is approaching resistance above 2.90 I think I will probably sell.

I only have a small position on LF and am watching it to see if it will be able to deal with the resistance above 13.50 I don't think it is worthy of recommending it.

I am glad you are enjoying your vacation at Cape Cod. Please be careful if you decide to go over to Chappaquiddick and if you go, be very careful with that bridge that they say is very slippery. Here in South Florida we had some wind squalls from Dennis, which I think were worse than we had last year with the hurricane that made land around Vero Beach. In spite of its location in the Gulf, last nite we had an attack from a mango tree that kept sending mangos to our roof. This morning I picked up more than 80 on the ground.

Weather is expected to get better. Will see if the Marlins will be able to play the Chicago Cubs without any rain delays. I saw several people on Ft Lauderdale beach surfing in spite of the beach been closed and the waves were pretty high.
