I would agree with that and would consider US officials derelict in their duty if they did not.

And you're right. Except your 10 years could prove much too distant in the future.

Individuals have rights and one of them is not to be tortured under anything resembling ordinary circumstances. But when the lives of thousands and millions are involved, we're far past "ordinary".

Anyone wishing to avoid the consequences of such an act simply need not be involved in it.
