Did Jesus change His mind during the ~40 years after his crucifixation? Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. --Matthew 12:31-32 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: --John 15:26 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. --John 16:7 the scriptures are clear that after Christ's resurrection and ascension that the Comforter--the Holy Spirit--was sent in his name to testify of him. we read in the book of acts that many jews repented at the preaching of the holy apostle Peter at pentecost. Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified , both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost......Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. --Acts 2:36-38,41 so you see, the ensuing 40 years after the crucixion prior to the destruction of Jerusalem the Holy Spirit was testifying of Christ. those who accepted the testimony of the Spirit of truth, and repented of their complicity in the crucifixion were forgiven and did not perish, enjoying everlasting life. those who blasphemed the Holy Ghost by rejecting his witness were not forgiven and they perished. therefore Christ did not change his mind when he said, "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." this was forgiveness against the Son of man. the destruction of Jerusalem was a result of blasphemy against the Holy Ghost, which shall not be forgiven. forgive me if i didn't make this clear in my previous post.
