I know a guy who worked at Carlyle. He made huge amounts of money after 9-11. He was not evil, just an expert in a certain sector so they hired him.

Carlyle takes advantage of the secrecy provided by being a private company, but its crown jewels are the powerful former world leaders who run it, including Bush Sr. who gets CIA reports. Carlyle is also tied in with the CIA and the Saudi royals, including the Bin Laudens. Therefore they operate on insider information with impunity. Because they had Bush-Cheney in power they can also double their fun by intimidating everyone. Bectel is another like this. Halliburton now as well, though they're a public company, and probably with they weren't.

Together they're the "axis of evil" if you hate imperial type corporations which profit off wars. All three are part of the Bush-Cheney inner circle. Then add Exxon and Chevron.
