Really? I'm surprised with all that oil money flowing in Texas. I have a few friends in Dallas and Austin and they say housing prices are through the roof and jobs are picking up nicely. Where do you live that your town is missing out on this?

Housing prices are up almost everywhere. Prices continued going up here even when we were in the depths of the recession.....and the recession hit my area harder than it did others. Its demographics that are mostly driving housing prices, not the economic conditions. For those of us who are not where you are located, the economy has been improving in fits and starts. Its not a great recovery at all.

Having said that, job creation has underperformed prior recoveries, and barely is able to meet the monthly minimum of 150k needed to reduce unemployment. Statistically, this is one of the worst recoveries in US history. In fact, some are predicting recession by next year.
