The religious right are often repressed sexual perverts. Same logic as why so many Catholic priests and Boy Scout leaders turn out to be pedophiles. Psychologically, they live a lie disguising their secret inner desires. They then project their own secret inner guilt and shame on others, blaming what they feel guilty about for society's ills. They live in a cage of shame where sex is considered "evil", but the taboo of it makes the sinning all the more irresistable so eventually they cave into it, then get addicted. Why would anyone devote his life to telling the world how disgusting and evil homosexual sex acts are if he isn't secretly fascinated with them himself? The abortion issue has become bogus now that RU-486 can make abortions unnecessary. Since the right abhores RU-486, it proves the rightwing is really against sex itself, not saving foetuses. Jimmy Swaggart used to give particularly strong anti-sex sermons after secretly screwing around with prostitutes the night before. Why? To purge his own guilt and anger outwardly.
