Actually western governments have been butchering Muslims by the tens of thousdands ever since the crusades. And butchering is the right term. BTW, look in your history books about the Christian Greeks and the Muslim Turks that had the greeks for 400 years 1400s-1800s. The Greek moto? Freedom or death. Those Christians were the suicide bombers then and you can say "terrorists" to the turks. History books look at them as freedom fighters NOT terrorists. 400 years later they got their freedom from the occupiers (1821). The same thing is being played again now but in reverse. Those that don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
