The religious right want to dictate morality. They are the only "church" pushing for extraordinary influence and power in the Bush administration and judicial appointments. They are not regular Christians, they are the Falwell/Robertson fundamentalist mainly white very conservative Dixie-oriented wing of the American Christian world. They certainly don't represent the views and interests of most churches in the country, not to mention any other religions.

These are exactly the types the founding fathers warned us about. They are indeed aiming to be able to DICTATE morality on their terms to the rest of us. for instance --

- Pushing creation myth over scientific theories
- Defining sin on their terms
- Limiting sexual and reproductive rights for all
- Banning sex education and birth control counseling
- Banning RU-486 and abortions both
- Pushing abstinence only/anti-sex teaching in public schools
- Banning whatever they consider obscene
- Banning gay marriage and civil unions (over states rights)
- Changing and limiting equal protection in the Constitution
- Dictating when we can let a terminal loved one die peacefully
- Limiting or outlawing stem cell research

Some of the above you nor I may agree with but the point is that they have no right to be acting as though they are the majority opinion on any of the above. In fact they're not. Not at all. In fact 65% of Americans want to keep Roe V. Wade, and even more want full stem cell research. etc.
