One time I landed a large Cornish Game Hen
using a fly that looked like a cube of
Stouffers brand stuffing.

It fought me for nearly twenty minutes.
Finally it wore itself out and I reeled
it in.

I carefully removed the barbless hook from
its pointed beak and held it gently by the
belly until it regained its breath. I
admired its beautiful coloring and plumage.

It gave me a few of her cape feathers for
my fly tying kit and then winked and swam
away.

It was one of my more memorable days on the
stream despite never landing that large lunker
of a chicken that refused to rise no matter
what fly I tied on.
