If Tony Blair had originally said that the London bombings were due to the IRA, do you think he would now have lost a vote of confidence and Britain would be pulling out within the week?

This sounds GREAT- -until you realize the situations have nothing to do with each other. The UK gov't was planning this BEFORE the London bombings. It can hardly be said they are running tail between their legs BECAUSE of the bombings. A bit different from the Spanish situation. Sorry about that, but the Spanish will forever stand accused of having given in to blackmail.

Is your story that, had Azner said right at the start it was al Qaeda, he would have won and Spain would still have troops in Iraq? Yes? No?

If you are asking for my opinion, I would speculate so, yes. Nations tend to rally around their leader when under attack, and especially around those they see as "firm" against the enemy. That is Aznar.

Then he should have. And didn't because Spanish voters didn't have the backbones of snails. The same evidence you refer to would soon have corrected his views, he would have continued prosecution of the war against the guity terorists, and there would be no problem.

Everybody has a view. Some are closer to reality.
True. Yours has little resemblance.
