The fact that some modern Jews do not practice the "suction" (mezizah) does not take away from it's mandate in the Talmud.

Did it ever occur to you that it's existence in your Talmud is more meaningful to YOU that to you average practitioning Jewish person?

This from the guy that has never heard of a Talmud, and knows and likes many Jewish people (or folks, as GB would say)...

You may not understand that Rabbinic Judism does not have a central authority figure who can set standards or make demands. The Talmud is just suggestions by prominant rabbis of the last two millenium, sort of a best practices manual, but not infallible doctrine.
