The fact that some modern Jews do not practice the "suction" (mezizah) does not take away from it's mandate in the Talmud. Did it ever occur to you that it's existence in your Talmud is more meaningful to YOU that to you average practitioning Jewish person? This from the guy that has never heard of a Talmud, and knows and likes many Jewish people (or folks, as GB would say)...
