Naturally, one does not leave someone in the field if incompetent. But blonde hair and a nice figure go a long way in establishing competency. The VF report suggests that she was burned by Ames, which is possible. This may have been a good cover to get her out if she was in fact incompetent.

If she played any part in the CIA's work as respect WMD in Iraq, her competency certainly needs to be questioned.

My "do the math" comment is motivated by the VF report's statement that she left Europe to return to the US in 1997, more than five years before she was outed in 2003. The statute has a five year limitation, but it might still apply if she was covert during that time frame, though I should think that the laws against covert CIA work within the US might apply as well.
