re: Freedom of the press should not include freedom to withhold knowledge of criminal activity. It's not criminal activity until someone is convicted. Awkward, eh? Anyone can be "accused" of criminal activity... if you allow the government access to confidential sources, you will seriously limit the presses ability to act as a check on the government. re: They'll have less government sources in cases where the government source is contributing to criminal activity.
