Liberal and conservative are ends of a continuum.

True but I don't think you can express the complexity of political thought with a single one dimensional continuum.

Even the terms conservative, and liberal can be somewhat vague, and can mean different things in different contexts. Picking one meaning for each, constructing a continuum between the two, and trying to make that in to the only significant political categorization to apply to all types of political thought doesn't make a lot of sense IMO.

If you must apply it to all political thought, that doesn't mean someone using the term "your boyz" about one side of the spectrum or continuum is placing themselves at the other end. Even in a two dimensional line there is an infinite number of points. Someone could be a mild conservative, or perhaps a moderate, talking about extreme conservatives.

Also the distinction could be about parties rather or other political groupings rather then positioning on a conservative/liberal spectrum. You can be very conservative without being a fan of Bush, or being a Republican, or being something else, there are two many posibilities to list.
