"What better barrier to entry than to outlaw your competition?" Exactly. It's a pretty effective tactic. (Having Congress extend your patents for 99 years or so is also a pretty effective way to keep profits high, and competition from darkening your door....) COMBINED (extra-long patent extensions, and legal bans against natural herbs, vitamin supplements, etc.) and you've got a REAL MONEY MACHINE going! Next step... maybe you can start arresting Grannies for growing tomatos in their backyards that have a higher licopene content then the commercially available product... causing financial 'damage' to the corporate farmers, don't 'cha know....
