It was a hostile hectoring that revealed much of the mainstream press for what it has become: the opposition party.

my first reaction was shut down the white house briefings. If these reporters cannot control their emotions they do not deserve to be treated as professionals. unfair to those who do behave as professionals. Maybe a code of conduct?

I'm sure Rove could handle selective news releases... They could still have interviews with guests but no questions or only approved journalists who have demonstrated some self control in asking questions.

These reporters took the position that Rove outed her that has yet to be proven. yet they have him convicted.

David Gregory

He loves the attention. on Imus a lot of the time. even filled in for him for a week. i believe he said his dad is a movie producer or director in holly wood. have to assume he was brought up with that crowd. Now plays for the camera's in press conferences...

That, to the press, smacks of stonewalling. And if you think such a reaction is unique to the Bush administration, you've forgotten about all these tense briefings in which reporters smacked around McCurry and Lockhart as they dueled over various Clinton scandals.

This is true. It is stonewalling, and they did get mad at Clinton for lying to them.

i really have to question why is david gregory still a 'reporter' assigned to the white house....he has been substituting for some time on 'hard ball'

he's quite brazenly become a pundit

<edit>

i see john c. has made this point as well

somebody needs to yank gregory's white house 'press' pass
