Paper tiger.

Do you ever address an actual point that someone makes?

OK on looking up paper tiger I see the definition does not match the way I mean it. So I will explain what I mean to you. Paper tiger means someone is putting words in his opponent's mouth incorrectly stating their opponent's point in order to defeat the newly created so called position of his opponent.

It's a sign of a lazy person.

It's a lot easier to create your opponent's arguments in a way that they are easily defeated than to defeat the actual argument he is making.
