The British are, on the whole, informed and educated. They are not happy about the war, to say the least. When attacked, people tend to draw together -- human nature. The British will indeed absorb this outrage and refrain from blaming Blair in the aftermath -- but make no mistake, the British will also ask far more penetrating questions about the nature of British foreign policy and the future of England. Perhaps some real leadership will emerge with a vision for healing the festering wounds that threaten the quality of life that otherwise might be within reach on this planet.
