Sure, and the sector of political organization and people that were most harmed by that, still give him a pass, still dismiss his responsibility, still bolster his image, still dissolve into justifications, and continue to discharge culpability in every direction but bill's. He turned his back on them and the greatest social movement of recent history, allowing it to crash and disintegrate. A noble gesture by him would have left it in tact but he took it down with him. It was their accomplishment and now it is gone; the common criticism of the left wing today is that there is no central core of principle, no resounding trumpet of cause or mission, no platform or assignment to pursue, no focus except to dissemble whatever the conservatives in power are attempting to construct. And after all how could it be any other way, bill clinton remains an image (of I don't know what) that rallies the left wing. I can not understand why they are not angry at bill, why they didn't grab him by the seat of his pants and give him the heave ho in 1998, why they don't do so now. Why they are not angry now...AT BILL. But they are not, they are something like the opposite of that. It seems like a cultural denial of massive proportions. I don't get it. But all you have to do is bring up his name to once again to watch them rally around it, as if he stood for something. Maybe some day someone will explain to me what that is.
