Mexico's Stocks Extend Record Rally
finance.myway.com

Mexico's stocks closed higher Thursday, building on recent record gains as investors anticipate good second quarter financial results from local companies.

The market's key IPC index closed up 0.6% to 14085 points in Mexico City. The index posted its second consecutive record close Wednesday, ending the session above 14000 points for the first time ever.

Among top Mexican gainers, cement group Cemex's (CX) CPO shares were 0.7% higher and wireless communications provider America Movil's (AMX) Class L shares advanced 1.1%. America Movil says it expects to report 1.4 million new additions for the quarter in its core Mexican market.

Also higher Thursday were the CPO shares in broadcaster Televisa, (TV) which rose 0.7% ahead of the company's second-quarter report. Deutsche Ixe said it expects a strong quarter for Televisa, which completed the transfer of subscribers to its Sky brand satellite TV service from DirecTV.

The brokerage also said campaign advertising by politicians seeking their parties' candidacies for the 2006 presidential election should bring early benefits to both Televisa and rival broadcaster TV Azteca (TZA), most likely in the second half of the year. TV Azteca's shares were down 1.8%.

Dell Home Invasion: Company To Launch A New Services Push
biz.yahoo.com

Look out, Geek Squad. Dell's mustering its own geeks in order to take a bigger bite of the market for servicing home computers.

Dell (NasdaqNM:DELL - News) plans to launch a range of services this fall to solve consumers' technical problems. The direct seller of PCs sees a big revenue and profit pool in home services.

This expansion into consumer services will put Dell in competition with retailer Best Buy (NYSE:BBY - News), which has been rapidly expanding its Geek Squad service business.

Best Buy, the nation's No. 1 consumer electronics retailer, expects to have 12,000 Geek Squad employees by Feb. 25, 2006, the end of its fiscal year.

As a direct seller, Dell competes not only with rival computer makers, but also with computer sellers such as Best Buy, Circuit City (NYSE:CC - News) and CompUSA. The last two also offer in-home services, with Circuit City's called the IQ Crew.
