The luxury builder, WCI, has been trying to buy up all the properties surrounding the marina. They want the marina badly. I haven't been working for WCI lately so I don't know how much progress they have made. That end of Singer Island will end up a gated community with the Marriott timeshares and perhaps a Marriott Resort added to help pick up the costs. Al Hoffman, a former general in the army, somehow always gets what he wants. Mid-90's he (AH) would have Gen. Schwartzkopf (a West Point friend?) drive through his developments (when they were called Florida Design Communities) in a car with the army flags. He was a good shill for buying property. Each community thought the general would be living there. He was just an early flipper. <G> Lovely Singer Island: Another little piece of Florida disappearing into mega-development. MP
