He was a scam artist big time...the first broker should have warned you about him and his shady dealings...He also should have made it tougher for you to get out of your original contract and then the new guy in town would have had no basis for his claim...

Another realtor cannot cancel your listing, that is up to the property owner...and it must be in writing, as was the original contract.

At least that's the way I read it. Of course I'm no lawyer, but I've been in RE for over 12 years in five states, and am now back in it..

Either way, he should not have been able to walk away scott free. The Florida RE commission should have taken care of him. They are much stricter now..small consolation, I know.
