Kip S I recall seeing on this thread numerous postings of doom and gloom: AAPL to 29, 25, lower 20s, usually by earnings time

Since I am generally the only one who has expressed doubts Apple could you post a few of those numerous postings you mentioned above, because I know I didn't say it.

I did mentioned mentioned the Osborne Effect, but I also stated in the long run it was a good move.

Michal, post # 45093 (excerpted from BBC News article)
Graham Barlow, editor of MacFormat magazine, said some people may not buy a new Apple machine knowing that a new processor was coming out next year. ...

Neal, post # 45064
It is hard to say what will happen to sales but if I needed a new machine, I wouldn't be worrying about what apple would or would not be putting out in a year or two.

Michal, post # 45066
Any way you lipstick it, people like me and others on this list and worldwide are not going to touch a new Mac until it's a MacIntel, period. This fact will impact the bottom line, double zero doubt about it.

Dan, post # 45067
Having just purchased a new iMac G5, I'm sitting here wondering what I'm supposed to be worrying about? ... <snip> ... So I think there is some downside to owning or purchasing a new G5, but not for most users. However, I agree that consumer perceptions may be to the contrary and that could be the Achilles heel of this switch.

Michal, post # 45068
... The way I look at it is: I almost upgraded this year; if I had, I'd be so pissed off right now, I can't tell you. ...

Dave Budde, post # 45071
... I can't think of a better time to buy a G5. It's not like the software stops working tomorrow.

Herb, post # 45076
Well, clearly sales will continue. It is just that some would-be-buyers will abstain for fear of investing in the obsolete. That means that sales will decline from previous projections. With an already rich valuation, the absolute best scenario for the stock is to hold here in a trading range.

What is more likely is for projected earnings revisions to trend down with the stock to follow. Or lead, as it has today.

Michal, post # 45077
Agree. Shall see: $40+ woohoo, or serious break down bummer, under $34.

WLD, post # 45078
It was under $34 before the Intel rumor jacked it back up. With flattening iPod growth and pressure on cpu sales this thing has a date with the 20s by earnings, IMO.

Michal, post # 45079
Agree. Stage Four.

Herb, post # 45086
Just for grins, my projection is a slow pullback to around 28 - 29ish. May not hit bottom until around end Sept. early October.

Inventory clearance pricing in November - December.

Then look for accelerated product refresh announcement in January. ...

Don, post # 45092 (my bold - Herb)
So is anyone pondering selling Apple and locking in their gains or is everyone going to wait until the stock really tumbles then claim they sold it at a much higher price?

WLD, post # 45093
My projection is for a quicker descent to sub-$25 as sales for *this* quarter will already show impact from the recent announcement and next quarter will either be guided downward in a few weeks or Apple will be in a "warning" situation. Then flat until rumors of earlier-than-expected x86 transition jack the stock to...heck, who knows where. ...

Don, post # 45097
I think the Ipod effect is behind or already discounted and nothing else to drive them higher. I might re-enter once the overall market has cleansed itself with a good 1000 point decline. So maybe Sep-Nov might be a good re-entry point assuming Jobs hasn't pulled an egg out of his hat by then.

Doren, post # 45167.
Headed down towards the low 20s and a nice buying opportunity.

FTR, I think we could still see a pull back, but in light of the most recent ER it will be from new all time highs. Not into the upper 20's either. ... LOL

The fact that some people holding back purchasing in light of the Mactel news has not slowed momentum is a huge positive for AAPL!

I feel a certain urgency to get my stock back.

Herb

Give it a little time. What did you think EVERYONE was going to stop buying Macs the day after the announcement? The number of people putting off upgrades will increase as the switch to Intel gets closer. I can see a lot of investors getting cold feet and taking profits. iPods still defy gravity but they have to come down to earth someday.
