I get your point. What about Reservists that are over 50 now, have been in decades, have children and even grandchildren to leave? Kind of extreme to me, and probably you.

Nope, they can't say any of those things. The commercials for the guard make it seem like your commitment is for one weekend a month and two weeks a year, but you're signing your life away, just like in the regular military. Here in Utah, the National Guard is 80% deployed full time, mostly in Iraq. They are used to fight forest fires here, so who's going to do THAT?

Here's the difference between the guard and reserve, not much:

The guard can have more bosses.
