Did the Sudenten Germans have grievances? Sure they did. Were they the real reason that Hitler wanted to take over Czecheslovakia? Not exactly.

When there is a driving ideology, grievances are very helpful to the cause but not strictly necessary. They can always be ginned up as needed. Al Qaeda's grievances are many, starting wtih the Mogul sack of Baghdad and proceeding chronologically from there, but they all boil down to one: the Muslim world is weak while the kuffrs are strong, and it just shouldn't be like that. Allah said so!

The rest, as they say, is commentary.

The USS Cole is American property no matter where it was. The Embassies are American property, no matter where "they" are.

The analogy would be IF we were stupid enough to blow up one of "their" embassy's that was "here" on American soil, that we would deny it was "theirs" and say it was on our soil....

Their Embassy is "theirs" even if it is on our soil. And the converse is true as well.
