The American public does not like anyone who uses the system to suppress the political rights of others. Stated simply they do not like crooks. We saw that in Watergate where Nixon used the office of the Presidency and the institution of the White House to suppress the rights of his political opponents.

Reagan too had a scandal, the Iran-Contra. But the folks did not perceive that as serious since it was to protect the interest of the country as a whole not for Reagan's personal political gain.

Clinton too had the Monica scandal and the Whitewater investigation. Both did not involve gaining unfair political advantage through crookery.

Where do you think the Karl Rove issue fits in: Watergate, Iran-Contra, Whitewater or Monicagate?
