>>Iraq Premier Visits IRAN to Build Ties<<

I'm sure you are aware that Iraq signed a military pact with Iran on Thursday, July 7. Iraq's new Defense Minister Saadoun al-Dulaimi, signed the pact in Tehran. He agreed to accept Iranian military training and other cooperation with the country Iraq fought for eight years under ousted leader Saddam Hussein. Responding to questions that the thaw in ties with Iran would anger Washington, Dulaimi said: "Nobody can dictate to Iraq its relations with other countries." Politically, there goes the ball game for President Bush. When, likely inside a few weeks, Shiite officers from the Iraqi army the US is so desperately trying to build, travel to Iran for further military training with their fellow Shiites there, in Iran, the military foundation crashes out from under the US occupation of Iraq.

These Iraqi officers will return to Iraq after several weeks or a few months of training. They will return with fellow feelings to Iranian officers, Shiites like themselves. They return to the ruins of what was once their nation. Coming face to face with any American officer, expect as a minimum, a staring contest and test of will. These Iraqi Shiite officers will be totally uncooperative. One can expect actual real physical collisions between US officers and Iraqi officers. This development places US officers and their men in a near desperate situation. They will know that Iranian-trained Iraqi Shiite officers can at any time turn their guns on US forces.
