It was Schiavo that dropped Bushies 9%, and upped Dems 9%, and changed the whole balance of power, not in terms of office holders but pressure going into 2006. Schiavo also removed much of the clout of the religious right because everyone could see both Bushes, Frist, Santorum and Delay pummeled in the polls afterward, instead of being rewarded which was their cynical plan. None of the Bushies actually cared about Schiavo. It was all Jeb Bush's marvelous idea of how to make DEms look "anti-life". Boy did that backfire.
