Well maybe it was one of the other government agencies. Or maybe is was the Taliban that the US supported in order to keep the Solviet Union from taking over Afganistan. We may not have directly supplied Bin Laden but we were supporting his side if the conflict. It certainly makes sense and is consistent with our foreign policy practices to use a certain group to our own ends and the have them turn on us as time goes by.
