What does the statistic that 445 million acres are farmed using pesticides have to do with whether pesticide agriculture is less productive than organic agriculture?

Are you saying that farmers are creatures of (recent) habit? If you look at the history of agriculture, the time, basically since the 1950's, that pesticides have been used widely is a minute percentage of farming history.

Pesticides are soaked right into our bodies, including those of fetuses, as well as into rivers, streams and lakes. Why would anyone choose to tolerate this dangerous and carcinogenic farming practice if it doesn't even produce larger soybean and corn crops than organic farming?
