Now you're just being silly. Allergic responses, like the hyper-immune response in response to the exotoxins produced by pathogens like Strep-A, are quickly and easily halted through the use of short-acting immune suppressing drugs like Prednisone or Prednisolone.

In any event, Interferon-alpha, rather than causing cytokine storms, is used to damp down cytokine storms. It signals T-Cells to sacrifice themselves to fight virus, in contrast to the signals produced by some flu variants which cause excessive T-Cell duration.

Researcher specializing in Flu are even developing their own special immune damping drugs which mimic some aspects of interferon-alpha. Nothing quite like re-inventing the wheel with a simulated substitute.
