Spectre backed down before after almost losing his chairmanship. Nice how Hume (let's make money from the Londong bombings!) practically threatens Spectre with his leading questions. Why hasn't Hume been fired after making his statement about pocketing a profit from the London bombings? Has he even apologized for that unacceptable remark?

Bush says he's looking for a mainstream person but, heck, it would be much more interesting if he picked an out of control rightwinger.

The dems would have yet another opportunity to maybe perhaps show determination and spine and shut down the Senate to any other business. It would be a defining moment.

I don't think Bush wants to chance it but, heck, he's much better known for childish tantrums than diplomacy. We could use a good fight that clearly show the difference between rightwing Republicans and the rest of the country.
