Maybe because they read the 8-6 memo Bush got warning of imminent hijackings, and they actually did something about it. Are you sure that you actually read Briody’s book on Carlyle? Carlyle bought EG&G Technical Services, the company in question, in August 1999. Check out page 152. One sentence. Of course, Carlyle could have begun planning the events of 9/11 during the summer of 1999. Is that what you are suggesting? It sure sounds like it. sec.gov Carlyle sold EG&G Technical Services, which by the way, was a very diversified entity, to URS Corp. in July 2002. The first URS 10-Q that was filed after the acquisition describes the EG&G business as: EG&G is a provider of technical operations and maintenance services to the U.S. government, including NASA, the Departments of Justice, Energy and Transportation and the military. EG&G’s services include the management of military bases and ranges, logistics and distribution center operations, program management and acquisition support for weapons systems, system integration, upgrading and maintaining military equipment, flight training for military pilots, and other services related to global threat reduction and homeland defense. sec.gov Just how big was that baggage handling business? I suspect that EG&G was a relatively small player in the baggage handling segment.
