Is it any wonder? The Republican party has turned into the party of liars, warmongers, militarists, religious extremists, with a nice sprinkel of bigots thrown in for good measure. Now, I'm sure there are still plenty of good and honest people in the Republican party, but their voices are being drowned out by the rightwing wakcos who have taken over the party. There was a time when Rockerfeller and Nixon Republicans dominated the party, a time of moderation and social progress. Those years are long gone. Now, the Republican party is a Southern hard right party and it shows in some of the more extreme elements who have take power. Not that the Democrats (a party that has its own problems with liars and cheats) have really offered a clear alternative, something they could easily do with a campaign to rebuild America and for tolleration. It is just that the Republican party has reached the point where one is uncomfortable with rightwing extremism that has taken over, the Democratic party is starting to look pretty hospitable.
