<I haven't completely given up on it yet but if civil war is to be...> My point on this matter is that we owed it to the people of Iraq and to the world to give this the best possible chance of being successful -- and we did anything but that. By choosing unilateral invasion the odds of success dropped right off the table. And the quality of planning and implementation was nothing short of incompetent. That is a prescription for creating a failed state -- not a solution to one that was already in very bad shape indeed, but was not yet a failed state.
