I think a big part of showing that you have a better plan is showing the weakness of the other guy's plan. In other words, "we won't send your kids off to war for no reason" resonates louder when you can prove that Bush did that. "We won't lie to you about the true situation, even if it isn't pleasant" sounds more reasonable when it has been shown that Bush is lying like a rug. A gay cruise with lots of kids? Mark me down for something else I don't want to do. I have no problems with gays and I love kids, but I want lots of single straight or semi-straight women and no rug rats when I get on the boat. Even a smooth operator like me needs some material to work with.
