I don't think the piece quite says that --- it rather leaves it hanging, but *does* mention that it could be some other legal statute that a (potential) charge will be brought under.

While the '82 'under-cover agent' law is a possibility, it's a longshot in that it's so EXTREMELY difficult to prosecute someone for violating it's provisions.

As I understand it, there has only been ONE successful prosecution in the 13 odd years since it's passage....

On the other-hand, I'm sure there is NO SHORTAGE of federal regulations regarding the unauthorized disclosure of classified info --- and there, the record of convictions is very long. (Perjury and conspiracy are also popular matters for conjecture right now... and are ever-popular with prosecutors as the nation is aware....)

Re: "received a phone call from Robert Novak who, according to Wilson, said he'd been told by a CIA source that Wilson's wife worked for the agency."

Well, that could mean that Novak was lying... or Wilson lied... or that someone in the CIA either bore a grudge against the Wilsons, or else was willing to play along with a conspiracy to leak classified information.

All conjecture at this point....

(Wonder when Wilson started recording all of the calls at his residence though....)
