My suspicion is they are having some interesting "discussions" with him now. That does read too much like a threat to ignore. And it was reported by a number of people.

The Secret Service investigates every threat against the President and Vice-President. Ray has put his neck into the noose so far they are likely to have interviewed him. Did they keep him, or let him think they set him free?
