IDC detailed market share numbers are out

And they show Apple having a 4.5% market share domestically. Add a little math and they show Apple with a 2.54% market share worldwide, up from 2.32% last quarter and 2.19% a year ago. Details to follow once Gateway reports its numbers (on July 28th).

Apple led the pack in picking up domestic market share, coming second to Acer in market share gains worldwide (Acer gained a whopping 39.1%, Apple gained a very nice 15.7%, and Dell gained 6%) . Lenovo/IBM, Fujitsu-Siemens, and HP all lost worldwide market share.

Gateway's results may alter these rankings, of course, but not the percentile gains or losses of individual companies.
