I'd love to move to Canada, but I have family ties here in the U.S. I enjoy Canada tremendously when I visit. The people there are very friendly and polite. They know how to live. And, yes in comparisson to the U.S., Canada is a utopia. Much safer, much more friendly, much stronger society as far as social services go, less war mongering, etc. Why are we so arogant that we can't learn from other cultures and adapt to improve ours?

BTW, my rant against Republicans service to capital also applies to the Democrats to some extant. The Republicans offer us facism, there's no longer a doubt about that with their PATRIOT Act and rampant warmongering, war spending, corporate welfare and neglect of human needs. The Democrats offer us, facism-lite. It was the Democrats who got us entangled in Viet Nam, another war that was fought in service to capital. The difference is the Dems actually do have a humanistic side to them, even if they are capitalist warmongers at heart. The Dems have offered us Medicaid and Medicare during Viet Nam, Social Security during the Great Depression, Family Medical Leave, an attempt at universal health care, etc. So, the Dems are also guilty of this service to capital mentality that leads to war and disregard for human life.

I can say confidently that in my travels it is countries with a more socialistic bent that seem to have friendlier more satisfied citizens, so they must be doing something right in those countries as far as quality of life goes, we could learn from them.
