I had never seen that web page, but that's him all right. I knew him from when I was about 6 years old, which would have been 1950, just a few years after that picture of him at Blodgett Pass. I have many pictures just like it in my pile.

In addition to his many accomplishments in conservation, Bud was an outstanding photographer and frequently gave slide shows to church groups and other groups. He was well-known and respected even then. Now he is something of a guru and icon, and I feel that I have lost something myself. In the late fifties there was a feature article in the Saturday Evening Post "They're Taming the Lolo Trail." He was the star of that article, and I think that was the beginning.

Thanks so much for that link. I bookmarked it in my writing folder. Unfortunately, my media player wouldn't play the video. What do you use?
