"Animals do have rights"

Animals have whatever rights we say they have. A civilized humanity will temper their self interest with compassion and reason--and will incorporate the knowledge of interdependency, environment, and ecology into their interactions.

Nature recycles everything: humans, tomatoes, maggots, puppies, air, dust, and kerosene. Everything that lives passes on information through DNA and RNA--all from FOUR nucleotides. These are changed into proteins using the same TWENTY (and only TWENTY) amino acids. We all had a common beginning. All life is related. We are all relatives: humans, worms, bats, camels, and the AIDS virus. ALL RELATIVES. We don't need to kiss our cousins; but we don't need to hurt them, either. "Here puppy. Atta boy..."
