I heard there was a publicity stunt on how hot it is in Phoenix these days. It took only 8 seconds to melt a scoop of ice cream on the pavement downtown midafternoon. Booming and bubbily Vegas was only a couple of degrees lower if folks want to escape. But wait in bubble markets down here in Florida it's only in the low to mid 90's but we also deal with the never ending humidity to rival any place on earth into early November as well as our new privileged status as hurricane alley that IMHO trumps all these other minor negatives of our high cost sunbelt lifestyle. There is even a SI board dedicated to it<g>

Once, when on a trip to St. John in the Virgin Islands, we ran into a SCUBA dive master who said he was leaving for vacation in a few days. We asked jokingly where someone from vacation paradise goes when he goes on vacation and he said he was going to Houston. We must have looked surprised, so he followed up with, "Well I know it sounds crazy to you because you're here on your own vacation but after you've spent ten years in "paradise" you long for all the things back home and back home is Houston, Texas. Give me the freeways, the noise and the bars."

Believe me, a lot of options open up when face with the "death reality". For me Lake Tahoe was the one I chose but some people might chose Houston, whatever.

The Drygluch Index is kicking butt again today at
$1,699,120.00 up $28,040.01 (+1.68% ) for the day and up
$305,375.00 (+21.91% ) since April 08,2005.
