Cooper said that it's very odd that Rove et al would go after Wilson when they did. After all, the WH was retracting the Niger Yellowcake inferences anyway.

So why keep the subject in the public eye by going after Wilson? Did Rove et al think that the press would simply attack a private citizen on the government's behalf and they would never be implicated? Did they do it just for revenge?

Talk about abuse of power.
