As I said I disagree with your basic premise that globalization is an evil plot. Globalization increases the overall economic pie, that's why economists love it. But it also results in a much more unequal distribution of the pie. The result is that it creates losers as well as winners.

The big losers are the working classes (blue collar, and, increasingly, white collar) of the advanced countries. The huge winners are the top ranks of multinational companies (basically CEOs and their executive teams) and the governing and business elites of developing countries. Smaller winners are the working classes of developing countries, and investors.

Interesting that one of the socialist world conferences - the one in Brazil recently - people pushing for a campaign to end US agriculture subsidies said something along these lines -

He wanted the US to have to start importing food so that not only would third world farmers benefit, but the rest of the world would gain some leverage over the US - "they won't be as happy to ignore Kyoto or invade Iraq if they are hungry !"

Sort of gives the game away, doesn't it ?

I am now in favor of limited agricultural subsidies in the US.

"Gives you an idea of the depth of Satanic evil that you are dealing with here."

It's this kind of statement that reveals what wonky legs your system of thinking stands on.
