Israel is certainly part of the problem. I have a sister-in-law who is Jewish, and have many Jewish friends (how can't you living in the New York Area). But it's abundently clear that our policy of supporting Israel has rightly or wrongly created a lot of anger in the arab community, enough to incite terrorism. OBL did mention the Palestinian issue after 9/11 as a justification, so there's a link right there to terrorism.

Personally, I'm not happy about $3 Billion of our money going to any country every year, when our own country suffers from decades of neglect (2nd Ave subway in NYC, $16 Billion to complete and on the drawing boards for 76 years, but no federal funds, as they're going overseas for dubious purposes). So, it's not so much Israel, but the fact that our support for Israel is also having a backdraft effect on us regarding terrorism, all the more reason to cut them off until they shape up. Money talks. Israel actually is asking for $2 Billion more from us. We cut off the $3 Billion and watch how quickly they create a Palestinian state and settle their problems. It would lessen our exposure to terrorism a great deal.

Then, part two, embark on a moon-landing type of new energy program to kick our oil habit, so we can disengage from the arab world, which would again lessen our terrorism problem quite a bit. A decade ago, such a statement would have been a pipe dream, but now it's very doable. Alternative energy technology has advanced much further than most people realize and continues to come down in price. If we need to go nuclear, there are new advanced pebble bed nuclear designs that are safer and more efficient than older light water reactors. We can go energy independent if we had leaders that were incline to lead us in that direction.
