I didn't say that.

:-)

Now you are making things up for me. I always said some terrorism was political protest, not all. So really, I could buy off on your critical mass test, although I doubt we would agree on the answer to the test.

no,

i understand that terrorism and terrorist are technical terms, modus operandi being the defining element

and will therefore not confuse the terms loosely with protest or protesters

you seem to want to 'complicate' the issue by inserting an 'element' of protest (assuming you are referring to whatever so called grievances political motivation underlies the tactic)

while no definition of terrorism has been accepted as authoritative there is in fact a 'shorthand' definition (written by a. e. schmid), which is widely accepted..note the lack of 'protest' within:

"Terrorism is an anxiety-inspiring method of repeated violent action, employed by (semi-) clandestine individual, group or state actors, for idiosyncratic, criminal or political reasons, whereby - in contrast to assassination - the direct targets of violence are not the main targets. The immediate human victims of violence are generally chosen randomly (targets of opportunity) or selectively (representative or symbolic targets) from a target population, and serve as message generators. Threat- and violence-based communication processes between terrorist (organization), (imperilled) victims, and main targets are used to manipulate the main target (audience(s)), turning it into a target of terror, a target of demands, or a target of attention, depending on whether intimidation, coercion, or propaganda is primarily sought"
